Recently I just bought acer aspire laptop installed with Linux Linpus operating system. My intention is to install Windows XP Pro once I got home. After edit bios set up to dvd rom bootable, windows xp installation start just fine but the problem started as if windows can't upload all files required. Windows XP installation stopped halfway.. The error message given would be something like; require user to run check disk program for hard disk error or viruses ...
the solution is:
Go to bios set up/ main/ Change hardisk Disk SATA format to IDE from AHCi
Why:
New laptop / computer produce currently come with hard disk set up for Windows Vista or Windows 7 which use AHCi format. Meanwhile Windows XP run with IDE format. So if you want to change your operating system between Windows 7 to Windows XP you have to change the hard disk format accordingly. Take note that Certain latest notebooks from certain manufacturer already pre set up their computer with Windows 7/vista hardisk format only... that's meant bubye to XP...
