7th Perak Ironbound 2012 with its official name 7th Perak Columbia Ironbound 2012

This is one of happening adventure racings in Malaysia of course. Organized by renown and reputable organizer SNR Adventure, now for its 7th edition has carved name of IRON BOUND as SNR Adventure's most popular brand name beside those orienteering tournaments. Even without USD prize money, this adventure race do attract international participation.

To the “adventure racing" fans, the foremost adventure racing event in Malaysia IRON BOUND CHALLENGE to appear once again hosting the 7^th  edition, this time it was more physical and mental challenge, this time the challenge will be hosted for 2 days in stages "weekend warriors", it will be held on 28-29 April 2012, the location set in Lumut, Perak, Malaysia.

The challenge was organized to commemorate the Perak visit year 2012 thisinaugural tournament was brought to the attention of adventure racing lovers every year, Perak Iron Bound Challenge has received awards by the MALAYSIA SPORT TOURISM COUNCIL, as the most successful sports in Malaysia 2003. @ The Palace Golden Horses.

What is certain is organized at this time is very interesting and different from the previous edition.

I think information given by his close friend and family in the comments is more accurately described of what really happened... May his soul Rest In Peace


Sungai Bantang Forest Reserve or Sungai Bantang waterfall is another entry point to Taman Negara Endau Rompin, a well protected rainforest sacntuary.  Known also as Kampung Selai or Takah Tinggi Waterfall entry point. Hiker Fall at Bukit Tabur, Taman Melawati Sunday 11 Sept 2011

A man fell 25m down a slope at Bukit Tabur, breaking his left shoulder and right leg. The exact location of the accident is not clear whether at Bukit Tabur East or Bukit Tabur West. Previously most accident happen at Bukit Tabur West as it is more popular among hikers. This Bukit Tabur is not like Bukit Broga, while both places are popular among beginner hikers due to its proximity with city centre but Bukit Tabur is far more dangerous. Number of deaths here I think are higher than any incident at other mountains in Malaysia. I lost track of the number of falls here as it frequently reported in the media, it could be even more if we to take into account of unreported accidents. Most of it I think is due to high number of inexperience hikers that throng Bakut Tabur trail each weekend. Bukit Tabur is dangerous place, hike its trail with caution and respect. Do not over confident of your ability and watch your steps carefully. Do not run! any mistake could meant free falling far below the cliff. Back to this latest accident, the hiker Sundar Ramachandran, 28 from Bandar Sunway entered the hiking trail with three friends about 8am. Rescue team was informed at 9.14am and arrived at the scene at 9.40am. Sundar was rushed to Ampang Hospital after being found. I heard that the hiker later succumb to its injury days later at Hospital due to internal bleeding, please en-light me about this news if anyone know....

Band Aid History

In Outdoor world band aid is like sanitary pad to women, you need it when you are at time of need. Scratch, blister, cut are common for those hiking in rainforest. And it could be very useful and flexible too... just combine it together to create a bigger plaster to cover a bigger wound / cut - this is called invention. Just as like how band aid was first introduced in this world .. it is result of pure creativity and invention.. interesting enough for me to share its history here...

Earle Dickson, his clumsy wife, and the story of the BAND-AID (IN CASE YOU’VE FORGOTTEN): It’s that thing that usually sports a lovely dinosaur print while clinging to the knees of tow-headed grade-school ruffians. BAND-AIDS are also very handy for adult injuries, but you never really see anyone older than 13 wearing them—even the ones without cartoons. BAND-AIDS, it seems, are something relegated to the backwaters of childhood. Now that you’re a big kid, you’re far too cool to display to the world that you can, in fact, be injured. But your foolish pride is single-handedly diminishing the importance of this invention, and contributing to the downfall of one of America’s greatest achievements. Don’t you think it’s time to heal this wound?YOU SHOULD THANK: hardworking Johnson & Johnson employee Earle Dickson … and his wife. After all, it’s like they say; behind every great man is a woman who burns herself a lot.


IT ALL STARTED: in 1920, when Dickson wed his sweetheart, Josephine, and quickly discovered she wasn’t exactly Little Mary Homemaker. Turns out, she had a rather unnerving habit of kitchen klutziness. Every day, Dickson would come home to find another cut or burn that needed patching up. He was sympathetic at first, but as time passed, the score increased to Kitchen: 500, Josephine: 0, and he grew more and more frustrated. Finally, Dickson came up with a way for his wife to fix her wounds without having to wait on him. He took a roll of Johnson & Johnson surgical tape and spaced out squares of gauze down the length of it. To keep the tape from sticking to itself, he covered it in a layer of removable crinoline. Forever after, when Josephine injured herself, she simply cut a length from the roll and patched up the damage. Thus, BAND-AIDS were born. No word on the final outcome of Josephine vs. Kitchen, but we’re hoping no news is good news.
